As already mentioned in the section "Psychotherapy," the education of Psychotherapy falls within an independent scientific field of study.

Familiarity with current research in Psychotherapy, diagnostic parameters, as well as strict ethical discernment, are significant components of the education in the profession of Psychotherapy.

Therefore, trainee psychotherapists undergo their own individual psychotherapy process and personal development and receive frequent supervision during their training. Professional psychotherapists continue supervision and personal and professional development, as well as participation in a community of psychotherapists throughout their professional lives.
The practice of Psychotherapy is applied based on the Code of Ethics, which respects the dignity, autonomy, and uniqueness of the individual, and psychotherapists commit to it. This professional practice is essential for the protection of the public and the profession.
Members of the Pancyprian Association for Psychotherapists are accountable if a complaint is addressed against them, and are committing to continuous professional development according to PAP’s Statutes, with the obligation of annual proof.

Psychotherapy means a responsible commitment to providing the best knowledge and skills.
Are there various methods?

'Psychotherapy' is the basic definition for the therapeutic process. However, there are different methods (also called 'approaches’ or ‘modalities’) of Psychotherapy. Each approach is taught and trained according to its own particular methodology, theory, and practice, and psychotherapists have the corresponding specialized training that they then apply.
Psychotherapists may provide individual support or work with you and your partner, a family member, or several members of your family or a group. Psychotherapy is addressed to adults of all ages. Therapy with infants, children, or adolescents requires special expertise.
The therapeutic period can last for several sessions/hours or more, depending on the needs of the client, the couple, the family, or the group.
Psychotherapists usually work in a private setting/clinic/office, they can also work online. There are also organisations within the framework of psychosocial care and welfare where Psychotherapy is offered.

In addition to the common "talk therapy," psychotherapists can use various methods, such as art, music, drama, and movement as primary or complementary therapeutic elements. Each has its unique training, technics and benefits.
